E.T. Tubes & Holders

et-tube-banner.jpg

ET tubes, also known as endotracheal tubes, are medical devices used to establish and maintain an open airway in patients who are unable to breathe on their own or require mechanical ventilation. These tubes are typically inserted into the trachea through the mouth or nose and extend down into the lungs.

ET tubes are usually made of flexible materials such as plastic or silicone. They come in various sizes to accommodate patients of different ages, ranging from neonates to adults. The size of the tube is determined based on the patient's age, gender, and certain anatomical factors. The tube itself consists of three main parts: the proximal end, the cuff, and the distal end.

To secure the ET tube in place and prevent accidental displacement, an ET tube holder is used. ET tube holders are typically adhesive straps or tapes that are placed around the patient's head or neck. They have a loop or clip mechanism that holds the ET tube securely in place, while still allowing for easy adjustment and repositioning if necessary.
